Why Peanut Butter?
In August of 2020, we lost our hero Jeffry Ray Pirkle at the age of 21. Jeffry was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Jeffry was a loyal friend, someone you could always count on for a smile, and loved by many. After the loss, his mother Alyssa Pirkle had the idea to remember him by paying forth the kindness that Jeffry was so known for. But how?
Well it only seemed right to start a peanut butter drive, as peanut butter was Jeffry's favorite snack; and by favorite we mean that it was his main food group. Growing up, the Pirkles would buy Jeffry his own jar of peanut butter and would even find him hiding the jar underneath his pillow. As he got older, his love for peanut butter did not diminish. He would often serve his friends snacks consisting of peanut butter on tortillas, a true delicacy.
Memorializing him by collecting donations of his favorite food, made it feel like every family that received that peanut butter were helped by Jeffry himself.
We want to continue on Jeffry's legacy. We know he would be proud.
